C-Med Surgical, Inc, was established in 1999 to provide doctors and surgeons with the instrumentation and equipment they want, to practice medicine their way.
O.R. Solutions is the custom fabrication division of C-Med Surgical, Inc. which provides semi and fully custom fabrication services for the medical market. Our fabricators pride themselves on delivering what clients expect every time.
The following are case study examples of custom fabrications based upon doctor/surgeon requests.

Ear You Go!
The instruments you see to the right were custom developed for the MedRx video otoscopy system. After attending several wetlabs from MedRx and talking with system owners, C-Med got a very good picture of what these doctors wanted to be able to do with their MedRx system. C-Med developed the custom video otoscopy curette set, dental/ortho rasp and laryngeal mirror. All these instruments were made to fit retrograde into the nose of the scope for use within the ear.

| Scrape and Hold
The instruments you see to the right were custom developed for animal TPLO procedures and feline laser declaw surgery. The rasp was custom designed for Dr. Louis Gotthelf of Montgomery AL. “Dr. Lou” as he is referred to, contacted C-Med after seeing the MedRx instruments that we created and asked if we could fabricate a rasp similar to one he had from years ago, with a few minor changes. No problem Dr. Lou.
The clamp is a modified version of a towel clamp like instrument. Veterinary laser surgeons were having a very difficult time doing decalw laser surgery on cats because they could not control the first metatarsal phalangeal joint of the cats front paws. They tried using Allis clamps, needle holders and even other towel clamps. C-Med saw the need for an instrument that held tight. Thus was developed the C-Med “DeClaw Clamp”. It has been so successful that we have over 3,500 in the marketplace. We even private label the instruments for a few veterinary laser companies to include in the sale of a laser system.

| How Does Custom Happen?
Recently a client asked if the surgical generator system he purchased had an adapter to use a regular blade with cautery functionality. Often times it’s as easy as blending together two or more stock items together. What dream can C-Med make come true for you?

| Hang It - ANYWHERE!
When Dr. Alan Shanker of Orange County Veterinary Hospital of Goshen, NY, needed to keep his I.V. pumps off the floor and from falling off the cage tops, he called C-Med Surgical. We visited his new hospital and reviewed his situation. We fabricated custom height and mount I.V. poles that we installed over his holding cages so he could safely administer fluids to his patients. C-Med has made this custom product for several clients as a counter mount, cage mount and wall mount. What can we make for you?

| Stock Table Too BIG? NO PROBLEM!
Recently, C-Med Surgical attended a veterinary conference, where we met Dr. Samson of the Brookside Animal Hospital of Bloomfield, NJ. We had been trying for years to do business with his facility. When he walked into our booth at the show, we caught his attention when we said we could make anything he wanted. Dr. Samson told us about this very tight exam room he had with this long fold down table. “It leaves no room to get around the table” he told us. After a short visit at his hospital, we designed, built and installed this Maple and Formica topped, wall mounted exam table. The final product was also stained to match his existing wood trim in the exam room. What can we build for you?

| Go Long or Go Short!
At C-Med, we listen to what you want and give it to you. The examples you see here were for surgeons who need shorter and longer laparoscopic instruments for various procedures. The instrument above were created in two different lengths, 200mm and 330mm for veterinarians who wanted to do laparoscopy comfortably. Using standard human length Lap instruments in smaller dogs and cats really requires shorter length instruments. Our VetLapTM Series of instruments give veterinary lap surgeons the flexibility they need. The LONG instrument to the left is a custom length, malleable 2x3 claw grasper created for Equine surgeons to reach debris in a horses larynx. When stock won’t do, C-Med Surgical will!
By educating our clients about our special capabilities, we become a more valuable supplier to them. When American Animal Hospital discussed their desire to be able to deliver oxygen therapy for their clients, C-Med manufactured it’s first oxygen therapy cage door insert. Fabricated with polycarbonate and stainless steel, our oxygen therapy door inserts are made to fit every size and brand of cage ever manufactured.

Breath Easy and Sleep Well
When the Animal Emergency and Referral Surgical Associates of Fairfield, NJ, were tired of using fragile and breakable glass fish tanks as anesthesia induction chambers, C-Med made them the custom chambers they needed in the various sizes they wanted to fulfill their emergency centers needs. In one case, we made such a chamber for large snakes by using wide diameter polycarbonate clear pipe with entry and exit caps on both ends. In a different situation for Animal Clinic of Morris Plains, we continually make specialty exotics incubator oxygen therapy boxes which house a water compartment underneath the patient treatment section for continuous humidity. We can even make attachments for “F-Air” canisters on the anesthesia induction chambers we build.

| Warm Water, Without the Bath
When the Rockaway Animal Clinic was tired of constantly patching and/or replacing their patient warming fluid blankets, C-Med showed them a simple solution to their problem. By thinking outside the box, we developed BlanketGuardTM. This C-Med exclusive invention, encloses the fluid warming blanket in an envelope of polycarbonate polymer that cannot be penetrated by the animals claws or teeth. Gone are the days of waterfalls emanating from an animals cage. When used properly, BlanketGuardTM will prevent the need for patching and/or replacing of water warming blankets. Our inventions and solutions save you time and money.
